A native North Carolinian, Alex is a performer, choreographer, administrator, and eternal optimist. She graduated with honors from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts with a B.F.A. in Dance. During her time at Tisch, she took her first yoga class with TaraMarie and was instantly energized and inspired by the practice. In 2011, she became a certified and licensed yoga teacher and Mind Body Dancer® teacher through the Perri Institute for Mind and Body.
Alex currently performs in Third Rail Project’s Bessie Award-winning production, Then She Fell. Additionally, she dances and acts as a rehearsal director for MATYCHAK (Nathalie Matychak, Artistic Director).

how do you take what you learn on the mat into your life and work off the mat?
As a practitioner that has limboed between student and teacher, the lesson that sticks with me is one of constant presence in the face of inevitable change. In a city as busy as NYC, it’s easy to get flustered and thrown off course when you try and stick to a regimented routine. Instead, I work on rolling with the punches and finding equal grounding and lightness in unforeseen situations.
